A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

A few weeks ago we were watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving & Gio had the best idea: why not have the same party with some friends?  The soonest I could do it was last Saturday & I think the kids all had a great time.  We watched the movie & served the same menu as Snoopy did: buttered toast, popcorn, jelly beans, pretzel sticks & fancy pudding cups.  Then all the kids went into Gio's room to play & destroy it.  LOL
It was cloudy & cold so we couldn't have it in the backyard :(
Just like Snoopy's -  the kids were SO excited when they saw them!

What a Coincidence!

Today we enjoyed a Halloween parade & also attended a Halloween party hosted by Gio's friend, Sophia.  The day ended with  pre-arranged trick-or-treating at some neighbor's homes.  One little girl arrived just in time to trick-or-treat and declared:
"This reminds me of having fun!"

[I was] Reaching For Zen in Two Thousand Ten

This year I continue my quest, mostly by embracing my inner hippie.  My BB4ever, Jenna, and I are currently taking yoga.  It is fantastic!  A live instructor is much more helpful than Guy from my Wii Fit.  The hours I banked with Guy really saved me the semester I had to endure some non-science classes and I think they actually helped me with real yoga.  Our class is at the adult school just around the corner from us so we ride our bikes over: me with my pink yoga mat seat-belted into Vinnie's seat & Jenna with her identical pink yoga mat sticking out of a backpack she wears.  I absolutely LOVE it and have set the goal to take it as many semesters as is possible.

We Remember

OK, well, I remember.
Ten years ago today I had been home from my mission for just 4 days.  I had not been involved in or even aware of anything in the world in over a year and a half.  I had slept in that morning and was awakened by my mom who burst into my room and practically shouted at me, "Don't you know what's going on?!?!"  I watched the television in horror as they replayed video of the first tower being hit by the plane over and over again with commentary about the chaos.  I remember thinking this had to be some sort of accident.  Then the second tower was hit by a plane.  At that moment, I could not even imagine the impact it would have.  It feels as though patriotism has grown stronger. Communities came together.  People vowed then and there they would enlist to defend our country.  It seems to me, as much as America may have lost that day we have been determined to rise above and gain back more.

God bless America!
